We have hosted a successful volunteer program over the last 9 years. Over 200 volunteers have come from around the world through networks such as Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) and HelpX. Volunteers work 6 hours a day for 5 days a week in exchange for accommodations, food, and the opportunity to learn about organic and traditional farming methods on a mountain farm. Work is varied – much of the work revolves around caring for the animals and gardens, pruning and harvesting olives and carobs from the terraces, repairing fencing and walls, and clearing and cleaning areas.
We also run a “voluntourism” program for visitors who come during our non peak rental season. Visitors can come and work on the farm for 3 hours a day for 5 days (non-weekend) and then have the rest of the day off to enjoy the property and surrounding area. That’s how we combine volunteerism – a chance to get your hands into the earth and to give back to an ancient estate we are working to conserve – and at the same time have a vacation on the Mediterranean, which is beautiful year round. We offer a 40% reduction in the price of our two smaller houses – Atalaya and Son Duri – and a 20% reduction in the price of our main house. So go to our page now and take a look at our rates and start dreaming about being a “voluntourist”.
Volunteers are a central part of our life and community on the farm. You can see more about our volunteer program on our WWOOF host site or you can contact us directly.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE NO MORE SPACE FOR VOLUNTEERS UNTIL EARLY SPRING, 2017. WE CAN HOWEVER STILL ACCOMMODATE VOLUNTOURISTS. THANK YOU.
Don’t forget to see our blog site for blogs written by volunteers.
