About a year ago, we launched a new program to suit a niche for tourists that want the experience of working on a farm but also want their creature comforts and privacy. We are calling it our “voluntourism” program. Participants can rent one of our smaller houses for a reduced rate in exchange for doing a few hours of work during the day – Read more about Pedruxella volunteer opportunites.
It’s the perfect combination – get your hands dirty digging in the garden or helping round up the sheep in the morning and do your reading, hiking, exploring, or wine tasting in the afternoon. It’s a way to learn more about where you are and get great exercise to boot!
Celine Kagan was our first voluntourist. She loved it so much that not only is she coming back, this time for three weeks, she also wrote an article in AFAR magazine about her experience. Check it out here and then make time on your schedule to be a “voluntourist”!
