We love the incredible fresh food and delicious cuisine in Mallorca. But I’d never heard about the round potato cocas from Valdemossa. The April 17 Travel Section of the New York Times covers the cocas and some of our favorite places to eat, including Ca Na Toneta. To get to Ca Na Toneta in the little mountain village of Caimari, we drive up and over the mountains from Pedruxella, past an enormous rock wall where Christians and Moors battled in the 1200s, down an incredible number of switchbacks, and past thousands of stone terraces brimming with ancient olive trees. You have to experience it to believe how this transports one back to another time. But the food is decidedly more modern – beautifully blending the traditional cuisine on Mallorca with new techniques. Come eat and use Pedruxella as your base!
